It's Time to Start Sewing

I bought a pile of vintage patterns last spring. I only got around to making two of them. This summer, I hope to make several more.

First is my 1960's Simplicity pattern 4426 - I made view three, highlighted in blue. I lengthened the skirt. Although I made the dress last spring, I took the photos yesterday.

Next up is my 1950's McCall pattern 4527 - The photos for this dress were taken last April.

One of the reasons I wanted to make this dress was that I thought the skirt would be fuller, not so.
My fabric has small pink polka-dots, which you can hardly see.
In the end, I wasn't happy with this dress; perhaps I would have liked it better with a different choice of fabric.

Can't wait to see what this summer brings.

Do you have any sewing plans for this spring or summer?

  2. Oooh, clearly polka dots are on both our minds this week, dear Hope (hmm, though objectively, when aren't they if you're a vintage loving lass? :)). These pale, sweet pink ones are especially darling. I can't help think that this lovely fabric would make for a great classic 1950s mother and daughter(s) matching dress set. Have you ever make matching garments for yourself and your kids? (In any fabric, I mean.)

    Big hugs,

    1. Hello Jessica,

I once made a myself a yellow dress and made my a dress for my daughter and little shorts outfit for my son from the same fabric. You would think that I might have done that more often. Hmmm.....

      Love seeing you here!

  3. Hope, those are darling! You could be used as a model for vintage patterns. Just beautiful.
Sewing and I don't really get along. I can do simple things, and even quilts with a guide right beside of me. :)
I failed misserably at sewing in high school, but passed with flying colors in the cooking part.

    Have a beautiful blessed day!

    Joy! Debbie
